White Stag Block Rehabilitation / University of Oregon Portland

Portland, OR

Working with developer Venerable Properties, FFA led the design team in the rehabilitation of three historic buildings in the Oldtown/Chinatown District for the new University of Oregon (U O) Portland. The complex will now be the Portland home of UO's satellite programs including Architecture/Allied Arts, Journalism, Law, Service programs and administrative services. In addition to classrooms and offices, it includes the Duck Shop and student bookstore.

The buildings, totaling 143,000 square feet, have been combined into one facility with each building retaining its original exterior historic character. UO will occupy 75,000 square feet of the complex and the remaining space will be leased to other tenants. The UO has illustrated their commitment to sustainable building practices by designing the complex with a multitude of innovative green building features. It is expected to receive LEED Gold NC certification in the Spring of 2008.
