State of Oregon Library Historic RehabilitationSalem, OregonFFA designed the $5.5 million structural, mechanical, electrical and interior rehabilitations for this historic government building, located on the Capitol Mall in Salem. Two primary goals of the project were to upgrade the building seismically and make the library more functionally efficient. FFA redesigned the major reading room with new lighting, carpet, and a new circulation desk to accommodate an upgraded computer system, improve the circulation path, and provide a focal point for the room. New library tables in the reference room were wired for phone and data lines, to accommodate patrons who wish to use a library computer or who travel with a laptop computer. Through a phased construction plan, the library remained open during the rehabilitation. |
