Lodi Public Library - Facilities Master Plan

Lodi, California

To establish future library space needs, FFA worked with library consultant Dallas Shaffer in a collaborative process that included numerous presentations and workshops with library staff and the public. After reviewing several development scenarios to address the space needs requirements, the Design Committee asked FFA to develop conceptual design ideas and cost estimates for two alternatives.

For both options, the Design Committee preferred the concept of an enlarged or new main library to serve the City of Lodi in the downtown area. FFA developed conceptual design ideas for a 32,000 square foot addition to the existing 28,000 square foot library, and also investigated site development options for a new 60,000 square foot library on a new site.

The goal for this study was to provide Lodi with an overview of its library facilities needs for the next twenty years and to develop a vision to meet those needs. The plan was developed jointly by FFA and Stockton, California Architect Wenell Mattheis Bowe, a Design Committee composed of representatives from the City, Library Board, Library staff and an independent library consultant.
